Can’t I just click that “update” button and do WP updates myself?
Yes, you certainly can update your own WordPress core files, plugins, and themes if you have the time and know-how. But please be sure to fully educate yourself on the how’s and why’s first. It’s extremely important to have a reliable and restorable backup before making any updates. There may be design features or site functionality that were built based on one version of the software, and may not be compatible with an updated version. If anything goes wrong during an update, it may break your site. This is not to scare you, just a word of caution from someone who has broken (and fixed) many websites along the way.
In addition, since we are taking care of numerous websites every month, we will be well aware when certain updates are urgent or have known issues, so we can take appropriate steps to protect our clients’ sites. When all goes well, making updates and backups can be a straightforward task, but we are always prepared if anything goes wrong.
Does the monthly time rollover?
Like a lawyer’s monthly fees, the monthly time is there for you every month to reserve your place in our queue and our resources, therefore, it does not rollover. You can take comfort in the fact that what you will request within that 30/60/120 minutes of time (depending on your plan) will be addressed by our team with priority attention.
What is included in dedicated monthly support time?
Content updates, small design tweaks, training and troubleshooting, and anything that we fit within your monthly support time is included. Just keep in mind that requests like adding new features, creating custom graphics, and other larger tasks may require a separate quote because these typically take longer than an hour or two.
What if I need more hours?
If you have a task that requires more than your dedicated monthly time, we will submit a quote for you to approve separately from your plan However, many times we will evaluate requests that exceed your time on a case by case basis, and with approval, work past the time and bill for time exceeded at our current support rate of $35/hr.
What happens if my website goes down, is hacked, breaks, etc?
The whole purpose of our website care plans is preventative care, so we hope to prevent anything from happening. However, in the case something happens to your website, we will be there right by your side communicating with the web hosting on your behalf. We cannot promise your website will not be hacked but can promise we will do everything in our power to prevent it, as well as assist in the restoration and cleanup of the website with one of our backups.
